V for Vendetta DVD Review

Not your typical comic book movie. Compelling and thought provoking on a level I wasn't expecting.

Prison Break Season 1 DVD Review

Wow! Not only is every episode a cliff hanger, but at every commercial break there's a cliff hanger! Keeps you at the edge of your seat - and actually makes you somewhat sympathetic with criminals. I definitely recommend DVDs as being the way to see TV series of this sort - no commercials, and you can watch one episode right after the other without losing momentum.

Dark Days DVD Review

A very compelling and informative documentary about the homeless living in tunnels beneath New York City. Very real and very "raw"- the black and white filming captures the rawness. Also very compelling is the extra features in the DVD about the making of the movie and the relationship of the director/producer to those he met in the tunnel.

Scary Movie 4 DVD Review

Kind of cute, kind of silly. Typical "spoof" movie - but I haven't seen all the movies they spoofed, so I didn't "get" some of the jokes. One complaint: not to be nit-picky or anything, but the name of the movie is "SCARY" Movie - and they spoofed a lot of non-scary movies. I guess there's only so many scary movies to spoof.

Silent Hill DVD Review

Really creepy! I mean - really creepy! Cinematography is excellent - it really brings you into a "nightmare" atmosphere. I had no idea it was even based on a video game until I watched the extras. If you like creepy supernatural movies, this is for you.

Aeon Flux DVD Review

I really liked the orignal MTV animated series, but I didn't have any high expectations for the movie - I didn't think they could pull it off. But, I was pleasantly surprised! With the interesting plot, along with the futuristic landscapes and costumes, this is a great movie.

Brick DVD Review

Interesting! The setting is completely juxtaposed with the storyline - which adds to its appeal. It took a bit to understand what was going on, but definetely worth a watch.

Syriana DVD Review

"Huh?!!!" That's all I can say - I'm sure there was a story (or stories) in there somewhere, but I just couldn't follow it. The location shots were done beautifully and George Clooney and Matt Damon are pros and were wonderful - but beautiful locations and wonderful acting don't make up for a convoluted storyline. Maybe this is the type of movie that you have to watch multiple times to really get it - but I'm not going to make the effort.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou DVD Review

Brilliantly offbeat and quirky. Bill Murray at his best. Willem Dafoe steals the show as the "sidekick". Love how they portrayed the aquatic life.

Evil Dead DVD Review

Holy crap! I didn't know whether to be really scared, or just laugh hysterically. If you're into really campy horror movies, then this is worth a shot if you've got nothing better to do.
